BharatBenz is Daimler’s 5th truck brand, specially developed for the booming Indian market. While “Bharat” is the native word for India and demonstrates a strong commitment to this market, “Benz” alludes to Daimler's high technological standards that are incorporated in this new brand.
BharatBenz focuses on producing trucks in the weight category of 6 to 49 tonnes and provides platforms for a wide range of haulage and construction applications. While the Light-duty and Medium-duty trucks are based on the FUSO platform, the Heavy-duty trucks are based on the Mercedes-Benz Axor platform.
2012 has been a crucial year for the young BharatBenz brand. After a sneak preview for the media in early January, the entire BharatBenz range was introduced to fleet owners at an exclusive ‘Premiere’ in the Indian city of Hyderabad. In April the new state-of-the-art plant was inaugurated at Oragadam, near Chennai, the hometown of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV). In June, series production of the first heavy-duty trucks (25 tonne) commenced. On September 26th the first set of BharatBenz trucks was commercially launched to the market. Since then booking and delivery for the 2523 and the 3123 Long Haulage and the 2523 Tipper truck have started through a growing network of state-of-the art BharatBenz dealerships.
The brand offers high-quality and reliable trucks which ensure smooth deliveries, providing a key incentive for customers to expand their fleets with BharatBenz vehicles. The brand also focuses on pro-active service in the after-sales area, so as to enable customers to make optimum use of their trucks. 5.5 million test kilometres prior to series production guarantee maximum quality and economy from BharatBenz.
BharatBenz is helping to optimise transportation in this growth market with reliable technologies tailored to Indian requirements.
