Technical courses

Contribute to the future of the motor vehicle. This course will kick-start your career in the design and build of electronics for vehicles and vehicle components.

Theory

Along with mathematics, physics and the basics of electrical engineering, the course covers digital technology, control systems, system theory and microcomputers. You'll specialize in areas such as vehicle electronics and mechatronic systems and deepen your understanding through academic studies. In the sixth semester you'll graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Practice

Practical phases will be matched to the course content outlined above. So by the third practice semester at the latest, you'll be working independently on exciting engineering projects in various departments. Specialist courses and seminars will help you develop the skills you'll need for your future career – and your future employer.

Areas of deployment

  • Vehicle development: including vehicle control units and electronic components, simulation software, and coordination of electronic sub-systems.
  • Measurement analysis and test engineering: data capture, analysis, and interpretation of test carriers, crash tests, and test runs.
  • Planning, production and quality assurance, systems engineering, and project management: problem analysis as well as the design and implementation of electro-technical and IT-led solutions.

Theory

Main subjects of this study are mathematics, software engineering, microprocessor technology and network engineering. With us, you specialize in the automotive domain of computer science. You write your dissertation in the sixth semester and on completion of the course you will achieve a Bachelor of Engineering.

Practice

You are involved in the day-to-day business, gaining knowledge of work procedures and the business environment. From the third practical semester onward you will already be working independently on interesting engineering projects. You will gain first-hand expertise in areas such as automotive electronics or analog, digital and microprocessor technology.

  • Vehicle development: developing simulation software, information systems and vehicle control units
  • Production control and monitoring: software development for data input
  • Measurement analysis and test engineering: data capture, analysis and interpretation of test carriers, and crash tests

Theory

Besides the basic subjects mathematics and physics, as well as engineering design, engineering mechanics, and mechanics of materials, you will acquire all the skills necessary to build and calculate engines, alternative drives, chassis and body shells. You also gain broad knowledge of different manufacturing processes. On completion of the six-semester course, you'll graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Practical

From no later than the third practical semester, you will be actively contributing to engineering projects and documenting these. Training in control engineering, CNC technology, CAD and other areas will bring you closer to the full spectrum of tasks and operations involved in mechanical engineering – and the company with which you will build your career.

  • Production: taking responsibility for engineering processes in manufacturing
  • Planning: conception and supervision of manufacturing equipment
  • Development: developing and designing assemblies, body shells and other vehicle components
  • Testing: testing the safety and functionality of assemblies, body shells and components
  • Process engineering: developing advanced technologies for production facilities (robotic production lines, laser-welding lines, etc.)
  • Quality assurance: developing testing equipment and tests to check component functionality and safety

Mechanics plus electronics plus computer science. On this course you will acquire wide expertise spanning three areas of engineering, making you an innovative systems thinker – a major advantage for your future.

Theory

Gain a solid understanding of mathematics, physics, engineering design, materials, electrical engineering, electronics, computer science and programming. From the third semester on you will enhance your technical skills and specialize in a particular area of studies, such as automotive systems engineering. Different subjects will be combined and additional content will be taught. On completion of the sixth-semester course you'll graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Practice

You are involved in the day-to-day business and take sole responsibility for tasks, quickly developing the skills required to solve problems and make decisions. Your practical expertise is complemented by specialist training courses on CAD, automotive engineering, programming and electrical engineering, as well as project assignments.

Training topics

  • Project engineering: diverse tasks relating to the engine and its peripheral parts, for instance
  • Manufacturing/planning: developing and operating manufacturing equipment. Adapting and integrating the systems available on the market
  • Testing: developing test benches, analyzing measured values, determining limits and specifications
  • Development: developing and improving electromechanical systems such as ESP, driver assist systems and (alternative) drives
  • Process engineering: investigating new technological solutions to improve operations and production capability, e.g. for fuel cells or hybrid drives
  • Quality assurance: developing testing equipment and tests to check the functionality and safety of the components

Theory

This course is equally based on the principles of business management and the ones of engineering. Specialize in different disciplines, such as manufacturing, financial planning and reporting, or logistics. Some lectures and management business games are conducted in English, because languages play an important role in the global marketplace. On completion of the sixth-semester you'll graduate with a Bachelor of Engineering.

Practice

You are involved in the day-to-day operations and work to a large part independently on engineering tasks. Technical and commercial training courses also prepare you for your future job – and career.

  • Production: determining target figures and defining parameters
  • Sales and marketing: developing concepts for sales strategies
  • Finance and accounting: planning budgets, checking financial reporting, optimizing processes and procedures
