Caught in the Act
The "new" drive systems have proven themselves in passenger cars. Their efficiency and clean emissions make them standouts
BlueEFFICIENCY: extremely fuel-efficient overall

BlueEFFICIENCY in the C-Class: 12 percent lower fuel consumption
Mercedes-Benz’ BlueEFFICIENCY program employs a comprehensive vehicle optimization approach designed to achieve further reductions in fuel consumption. The program’s coordinated measures not only target the engine but also exploit the vehicle’s fuel-saving potential in other ways.
The latter measures include aerodynamic refinements, the new electrical ECO steering system, intelligent lightweight engineering, low rolling-resistance tires, and an innovative generator management system. In addition, the dashboard comes with a new gear-shifting and fuel consumption display that helps motorists drive in a more economical and energy-conscious manner.
To put it in a nutshell, the aim of BlueEFFICIENCY is therefore to make the car extremely fuel-efficient overall. Depending on the model in question, these measures can reduce fuel consumption by up to 12 percent and cut CO2 emissions by a corresponding amount.
