The overall concept includes a customer-friendly and convenient vehicle recharging, using standardized communication technologies between the electric vehicle and the electric charging stations. The use of intelligent processes and the automatic authentication of the electric vehicles at the charge station enable a quick and simple electricity “re-fill”.
The electric charging station receives all the necessary electricity contract and vehicle charging information through the power cord. Afterwards, the charged electricity is automatically billed – without the use of any cumbersome payment systems.

Enlarge   Smart Charge Communication In order to realize these customer friendly functionalities, Daimler and RWE have developed a "Smart Charge Communication Protocol" for the standardized communication between the vehicle and grid.
