Drive system
There are various types of fuel cell. These have differing characteristics, operate with different fuels and are used in different applications. The most frequently used type of automotive fuel cell today is the PEM fuel cell. PEM stands for Polymer Electrolyte Membrane or Proton Exchange Membrane.

The fuel cell is a highly efficient converter of energy. The fuel cell transforms the fuel hydrogen directly into electricity that powers an electric motor.
The fuel cell powertrain is a modular assembly. Various configuration concepts can thus be realized in the vehicle and the spatial design of different vehicle models taken into consideration.
