Daimler defines product responsibility as the combination of the greatest possible customer benefit with the highest safety standards while setting new standards for environmental and climate compatibility.
When it comes to the environment, Daimler's Environmental Guidelines are the binding standard for our activities. The second guideline expressly stipulates that we develop products that are exceptionally economically sound in their respective market segments.
Natural handling with resources
That is why our task is to satisfy demanding environmental standards and to conserve natural resources. Our measures for eco-friendly product design take into consideration the complete product life cycle – from development, through production and product use, to disposal and reuse.
Eco-friendly vehicle production in the entire product development process
The requirements for the environmental compatibility of our vehicles are integral aspects of vehicle development, which are discussed in the relevant committees and implemented accordingly (see chart). The vehicle specifications and milestones in the development process (quality gates) document the environmental effects and requirements for the entire product development process.
