Rosenbauer – a long-standing and major Daimler customer – has placed an order with Mercedes-Benz Trucks for some 620 trucks, which are to be delivered to the fire service in Saudi Arabia between 2012 and 2014 after having been fitted with bodies specific to fire fighting.
For Mercedes-Benz Trucks, this is the largest single order to date for chassis intended for fire fighting. Rosenbauer will be equipping the trucks with bodies suitable for the fire service’s various operational requirements. The trucks are to be deployed as turntable ladder vehicles, tow trucks and recovery vehicles, as well as tank fire fighting vehicles. The plan is to supply the first 180 trucks to Rosenbauer this year. The biggest batch of 370 vehicles is scheduled for 2013, with Rosenbauer taking delivery of the remaining trucks in 2014.
For Rosenbauer, this is a follow-up order from Saudi Arabia. In recent years, the company has supplied more than 1,000 such vehicles to the authorities there, which were likewise based on Mercedes-Benz trucks. Rosenbauer’s new contract involves providing a total of 1,125 vehicles for civil protection in Saudi Arabia. Rosenbauer is a global leader in manufacturing and distributing fire fighting vehicles. In 2010, the Group generated revenues of approximately 600 million euros.
