Mercedes-Benz attains highest ever Q1 Sales in China with continued strength in March
  • The flagship S-Class showed sustained leadership at the pinnacle of luxury with sales of 3,420 sedans in March, achieving sales of 13,400 units for the first quarter with a year-on-year growth of 74%.
  • The locally produced E-class and C-Class sedans continued to shine with a combined year-on-year sales increase of 24.4% in March, bringing the first quarter to a year-on-year growth of 36.4%.
  • Exemplified by the R-Class with March sales of 1,300 units driving a growth of 63% over the same month last year, the Mercedes-Benz SUV family has made a great start to 2012.
  • smart posted sustained excellent sales in March with 1,860 units, doubling year-on-year sales for the first quarter, with a total sales of 4,760 units.
Mercedes-Benz China sold 19,080 units of Mercedes-Benz, smart, AMG and Maybach this March, bringing total sales for the first quarter of 2012 to 54,720 units, representing a year-on-year increase of 24%.

As the flagship luxury sedan, the S-Class enjoyed further growth in China with sales of 3,420 cars in March to bring the first quarter sales total to a remarkable 13,400 units, representing a 74% year-on-year growth.
The locally-produced E-Class and C-Class sedans gained even higher popularity in their segment, witnessing a robust 24.4% growth in March and a 36.4% increase in the first quarter. With the launch of the 2012 LWB E-Class as well as the debut of the locally produced GLK-Class at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show, the enhanced product portfolio will boost BBAC’s performance to a whole new level.
In addition to star products such as the GLK-Class, the full size GL-Class and multi-purpose R-Class have been enthusiastically received in the 2012 market. The GL-Class saw sales grow by 150% over the same month last year with sales of 325 units. The R-Class, perfect for both business and family, added 1,300 new customers in March, representing a 63% growth rate year on year. With the launch of the all-new M-Class at the end of March, the exciting new design and enhanced technology of the model will certainly add to the popularity of the SUV family in 2012.
smart continues to make major inroads into cities across China, doubling sales over the first quarter of last year with a total of 4,760 units delivered in the first three months. 1,860 proud new smart owners in March now enjoy increased mobility and energy-efficient driving in urban areas across China.
