Global procurement
The Daimler procurement organization Corporate Procurement Services (CPS) is responsible for the centralized management of cross-departamental matters affecting purchasing such as strategy, communication, purchasing processes and purchasing methods. Furthermore, it will ensure the close integration of the procurement organization with the respective operative business units Procurement Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans (PMC), Procurement Trucks and Buses (PTB) as well as International Procurement Services (IPS).
Daimler’s primary objective is to contribute to the increase of the corporate value. The three strategic directions of CPS are therefore as follows:
1. Global Scale Leverage: Benefiting from global scale leverage
2. Global supply Base Management: Efficient supply base management throughout the company
3. Global Infrastructure and Processes: Creating a common infrastructure and processes worldwide : The global procurement infrastructure and its processes are standardized
To us, it is of great importance to cooperate openly and constructively with our suppliers, and with our Extended Enterprise® philosophy we have created a basis thereof. The core of this philosophy comprises global, performance-based cooperation with suppliers. At the forefront there are the four value drivers quality, technology, cost and supply. By means of the External Balanced Scorecard (EBSC), a tool to assess supplier performance, strategic goals regarding purchased products and services are transferred into measurable data.

Additionally, the model incorporates three conduct-related aspects derived from Daimler’s Principles of Social Responsibility:
  • Communication: The global Daimler supplier portal constitutes a key communication platform to achieve transparency and being a central interface, this portal offers more than 60 applications.
  • Commitment: Daimler AG cooperates with those suppliers who meet or exceed the set targets and by doing so greatly contribute to the benchmark-performance at a world-class level.
  • Integrity: Just as the Daimler AG strives for integrity in accordance with the Code of Ethics, the company also expects ethically correct conduct on the part of its suppliers.
