Compliance
State of Implementation
Structure of the Compliance Organization
Since 2006 with Corporate Compliance Operations (CCO), Daimler has built up an effective central organization which facilitates the uniform, sustained implementation and management of our corporate Compliance Program.
At the start of 2008, Daimler AG took a further step towards reinforcing self-monitoring in terms of ethically sound corporate governance on a sustainable basis. Reporting directly to the Board of Management, the new position of a Chief Compliance Officer was created at the level of Senior Vice President. In addition, Corporate Compliance Operations was integrated into the Legal Department to create the new Legal & Compliance unit (LC).
Global reach and support extended
As a result of bringing together the two existing global networks of Local Compliance Managers and Legal under the common umbrella of Legal & Compliance, the reach of our service range for employees was further expanded.
Compliance is more than the fight against corruption
Initially, the special focus of Corporate Compliance Operations activities was on combating all forms of corruption. Avoiding and combating corruption remains a top priority at Daimler. However, compliance is by no means restricted to anti-corruption measures in high-risk countries.
Rather, compliance requires observance of all relevant laws and regulations, the respective rules and processes as well as self-elected obligations everywhere at Daimler. It must be ensured that managers responsible for operations and their employees take suitable measures to minimize the respective risks. Examples include avoiding damage to assets and image as a result of fraud, breach of trust and embezzlement, conformity with anti-competition law, capital market legislation, environmental protection, health and safety at work and product liability. This must take place worldwide, without any exceptions.
Extensive range of training and information
In order to support managers and their employees in their responsibility for compliance, Daimler offers an extensive range of training and information.
