Extension of the Compliance Organization
Compliance is the responsibility of every employee at Daimler, with the Group providing support through a variety of tools and offerings. Employees who have questions concerning the application of the Group’s standards for business behavior can call the Compliance Consultation Desk, which has processed more than 12.000 queries (status: 01/03/08) since its formation.
Reports of suspected violations of the standards can also be addressed to the Business Practices Office (BPO) - including anonymously upon request.
The training programs were developed to ensure the adequate information of employees. In this context, in 2007 over 3.700 employees worldwide were provided with trainings on issues relevant to compliance. In small working groups, the company’s top management was also informed about the subject and the related responsibility.
Daimler has made good progress with its efforts to reach its compliance targets. An effective corporate compliance organization has been successfully set up with local compliance managers throughout the world. In addition to the already existing internal requirements, further regulations were also created and implemented, such as provisions for avoidance of irregular business conduct, corruption prevention, etc.
