"Intelligent production": Mercedes-Benz Ludwigsfelde plant focusing on new technologies and efficiency in van production
It's really quiet in the Sprinter assembly hall south of Berlin. Unexpectedly quiet for a place that builds more than 200 large vans every single day. Whereas previously there were countless wire baskets, shelves and carriers full of material all around the assembly lines, and the employees had to pick the correct parts for each van themselves, now the scene is dominated by "driverless transport trucks".

Daimler opens new bus plant in Colombia and expands its bus business in Latin America
Daimler is further expanding its bus business in Latin America: the wholly owned subsidiary Daimler Colombia S. A. is opening a new bus plant in Funza near Bogotá with an installed capacity of 4,000 units per year. To this end, two million U.S. dollar are being invested in the bus plant in Colombia that occupies 11,000 square metres. As such the company is preparing for the growing demand for regular buses as well as efficient mobility solutions in the metropolises of the region.

Sending a Signal for Respect and Tolerance
Daimler AG's commitment to respect and tolerance means taking on social responsibility, demonstrating support, and putting that support into action. In light of the current refugee situation, the company is increasing its engagement in refugee aid: For the next three years, Daimler is giving the City of Stuttgart EUR 100,000 per year for the establishment of a Welcome Fund; it also supports a staff position to coordinate the fund.

Milestone for Mercedes-Benz Vans in Russia: 10,000 Sprinter Classic produced in Nischni Nowgorod
It is a milestone for Mercedes-Benz Vans in Russia: just one and a half years after the start of production in September 2013, the 10,000th Sprinter Classic has rolled off the assembly line in Nischni Nowgorod. In 2014 a record figure of 6600 vehicles were sold. This makes the Sprinter Classic the most popular van from the Mercedes-Benz portfolio in Russia and in terms of its sales figures in Russia Mercedes-Benz Vans is the number one of the international transporter brands.

Production Anniversary in South Africa: Mercedes-Benz East London Plant Produces One Millionth Passenger Car
In South Africa’s Eastern Cape province, the one millionth passenger car has rolled of the assembly line in the Mercedes-Benz East London plant - a white C-Class Sedan in right-hand drive. The new C Class is being produced in East London since May 2014. It is already the fourth generation of the highest-volume Mercedes-Benz model rolling of the assembly line at this production site. The plant is part of the global production network for the C-Class, which includes the lead plant in Bremen, Germany as well as the production site in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the USA and the Chinese production site at BBAC in Beijing.

From cars to power grids: battery technology from Daimler is accelerating the transition to renewable energy generation
Daimler is entering into business in the field of stationary energy storage plants with its one hundred percent subsidiary Deutsche ACCUmotive. The first industrial-scale lithium-ion unit is already on the grid and is being operated by the partner companies The Mobility House AG and GETEC Energie AG. For business with private customers in the area of energy storage in Germany, Daimler AG is planning to collaborate with EnBW AG.

Transformation plan for the Mercedes-Benz Berlin plant: Mercedes-Benz Plant Berlin to Become High-Tech Location for Components to Reduce CO2
Daimler continues to back Berlin as a location. The company is investing a total of around 500 million euros in the Mercedes-Benz plant in Berlin, which is being developed into a high-tech facility for component production. This is part of the transformation plan agreed between the company and the Works Council, which will secure employment at the location for the long term. The Group's oldest production facility in operation is already an important part of the powertrain production network at Mercedes-Benz Cars.

Daimler expands global employee representation
The global employee representation of Daimler AG is becoming even more international. The World Employee Committee (WEC) will have 23 members from 15 countries in the future. The Group's Management and the employee representatives have signed a corresponding agreement. Previously, the WEC represented Daimler employees from six countries with 13 members.

Ten years of PRE-SAFE®: the car with protective reflexes celebrates a special anniversary
Ten years after the PRE-SAFE® anticipatory occupant protection system celebrated its world premiere in the S-Class (W 220) in the autumn of 2002, PRE-SAFE® is now available in a total of 14 model series right across the Mercedes-Benz Cars model range, from the A-Class to the S-Class, and is currently able to trigger anticipatory measures in up to eleven hazardous scenarios. Almost 60 percent of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars delivered worldwide in 2012 have been fitted with PRE SAFE®.
