With three van series, three truck series and in future three Unimog series, DaimlerChrysler offers the widest range of vehicles for the construction industry and ancillary trades. The spectrum of available weight categories extends from the Mercedes Benz Vito one-tonner with a gross vehicle weight of less than 2.8 tonnes to the four-axle Actros heavy-duty truck in the 250-tonne category.
The Mercedes-Benz van line-up – in particular the new Sprinter series – offers both volume-production solutions and special-purpose vehicles with crewcabs and tippers as tailored transport solutions for the construction sector. The mainstay of the DaimlerChrysler vehicle portfolio for the construction sector is the range of trucks produced at the plant in Wörth, Germany – the Mercedes-Benz Atego, Axor and Actros series. The range of Mercedes-Benz vehicles for the construction and energy industries is rounded off by the versatile, extraordinarily dependable Unimog implement carriers, which are also produced at the DaimlerChrysler plant in Wörth.
The construction industry vehicles were designed with built-in futureproofing, featuring environment-conscious, emission-controlled engines: exhaust gas recirculation plus a particulate filter for the Vito and Sprinter van models and Blue-Tec diesel technology for the Vario, the entire truck range and the Unimog.
In addition to application-specific vehicle solutions for all construction tasks, Mercedes-Benz also provides tailor-made service packages – from Mercedes-Benz CharterWay and the DaimlerChrysler Bank to the resale of used vehicles through TruckStore and the TGC (used van centre).
