Exhaust aftertreatment systems are composed of filter and catalyst combinations – all of which are single components that interact with each other and simultaneously also with the engine. For optimizing this complex integrated system, researchers of the Daimler AG work with sophisticated simulation technology. The aim is to reduce costs and to increase the degree of maturity at an earlier point in the development process.
