Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems: lower weight, greater protection of the environment
  • Efficient: all three-axle major assemblies are 15 kg lighter
  • Environmentally friendly: all screw connections are chrome-free
  • More than 500,000 trailer axles from Kassel, Germany
Increased efficiency through lower weight, better protection of the environment thanks to chrome-free coating of all screw connections – Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems has optimised its successful trailer axles in time for the 2012 International Motor Show for Commercial Vehicles (IAA).
Efficient: all three-axle major assemblies are 15 kg lighter
With the aim of utmost transport efficiency, Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems has optimised the weight of the entire DCA axle family. All axles of the product family of three-axle major assemblies now weigh 15 kg less than before.
The background to this is an altered hub concept, with a new brake disc connection. The weight saved has not compromised safety or economy. The weight reduction affects all four members of the DCA axle family: DCA Weightmaster, DCA Megamaster, DCA Airmaster and DCA Steermaster.
Environmentally friendly: all screw connections are chrome-free
It is not just the European emissions standards that are of importance for the environment, but also the materials used in the actual construction of the vehicle. Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems has moved to a coating of all screw connection surfaces which does not contain chrome VI. We have voluntarily adopted chrome-free wheel bolts, wheel nuts and other screw connections pre-emptively. The previously used chrome VI coating, as is customary in vehicle construction, is seen to pose a risk to health.
More than 500,000 trailer axles from Kassel, Germany
With their axles, Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems belong to the top providers in Europe. The axles come from the Kassel plant in Germany which is Europe's largest manufacturer of axles for commercial vehicles. In just 15 years, more than half a million trailer axles have been produced here to date.
Mercedes-Benz TrailerAxleSystems will be presenting the new weight-optimised hub system on the basis of the revolutionary DCA Airmaster axle, the world's first trailer axle with integrated compressed air reservoir for the brake system and the air suspension.
