The Active Brake Assist mitigates accident consequences and saves lives: The latest example of such technology is demonstrated in the Safety Truck (above) with Active Brake Assist. The Mercedes-Benz Actros is so far the only truck series available with this system. If a risk of collision with a moving obstacle is detected, Active Brake Assist automatically initiates emergency braking, thus significantly reducing the speed of impact and at the same time drastically reducing the consequences of the accident. On the Mercedes-Benz Travego Safety Coach, the standard equipment is supplemented by a non-wearing retarder and the Continuous Braking Limiter (DBL), which prevents inadvertent exceeding of the speed limit when descending long gradients on motorways. The highlight of this coach however is that the Electronic Stability Program ESP is fitted as standard specification. All versions of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Safety Van are fitted with Adaptive ESP as standard, a system which adapts to the payload of the vehicle, which can vary greatly in typical van application.
