The route that their new coach would take on its maiden journey had been determined long before the German bus operator "Schäfer Reisen" took delivery of the S 516 HD at the Setra Customer Centre. This was the first ComfortClass 500 touring coach to be delivered by Daimler AG's Ulm-based brand to the German state of Hesse.
Trier’s public utility company has put three new Citaro Euro VI buses into service. The urban buses equipped with Euro VI exhaust treatment technology significantly improve urban environmental quality thanks to emissions that are 80 percent lower than those of their predecessors. At the same time, the fuel expenses of the transport operator are lower because the new buses use more than 8 percent less diesel fuel.
Even as a small child Alfred Block loved watching Setra buses. Today the bus operator from Lower Saxony who runs "Block Busreisen" is himself the owner of a very special vehicle. The S 517 HD is the first touring coach in the new ComfortClass 500 series which the Ulm-based brand from Daimler AG in Stuttgart has delivered to North Germany and also the very first ComfortClass 500 3-axle model in Germany.
The touring coaches operated by the German company "Fromm Reisen" cover a distance of some 1.6 million kilometres each year. The family-run company, based in the small Swabian town of Wain, has now updated and extended its fleet with its 75th vehicle to bear the Setra brand.
The first 56 Citaros were delivered in Budapest on 30 April 2013, right on schedule. Till Oberwörder, Head of Marketing, Sales & Aftersales Daimler Buses, handed over the vehicles in the presence of the Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the Mayor of Budapest István Tarlós, the General Director of the Budapest Transport Centre, Dávid Vitézy, and Messrs Mátyás Dósa and Péter Szepesi, operators of the private bus company VT Transman GmbH.
