Daimler has been associated with India from the 1950s, when it introduced India’s first indigenously manufactured truck. In 2008, the group reinforced its commitment with the establishment of Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV). This new enterprise has been established in India with the mission of designing and manufacturing products that suit the unique demands of Indian terrain and customers.

Daimler’s new ‘BharatBenz’ brand of commercial vehicles have been designed and are manufactured specially for India. It is powered by the synergy between global leadership in technology and local, deep-rooted customer knowledge. BharatBenz trucks offer not just high quality, but also value for money and low total cost of ownership.

As an integrated unit with a focus on providing total Commercial Vehicle solutions in India DICV also handles the Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks. These high-end and highly reliable trucks form the backbone of the mining industry.

A more recent integration is that of merging the business of Daimler Buses in India with DICV.

In essense all Daimler Commercial Vehicle businesses have been consolidated under DICV.
