Funding raised by Daimler primarily serves to refinance the leasing and sales-financing business. For this purpose, Daimler makes use of a broad spectrum of various financing instruments in different currencies and markets. They include, among others, bonds with medium and long maturities.
Various issue programs are available for longer-term funding in the capital market. They include the Euro Medium Term Note Programme (EMTN) with a total volume of €35 billion, under which several companies of the Group can issue bonds in various currencies. Other capital-market programs – much smaller than the EMTN Programme – exist in local markets such as South Africa, Mexico, Thailand or Argentina. Capital-market programs allow flexible, repeated access to the capital markets.
