Beijing Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (BBAC), a joint venture of Daimler and its Chinese partner BAIC Motor, produces front-wheel and rear-wheel drive vehicles as well as engines. BBAC is part of the global production network of the C-Class, which encompasses the lead plant in Bremen as well as additional facilities in Tuscaloosa, USA, and East London, South Africa. The best-selling Mercedes-Benz model series is also produced at BBAC in a long-wheelbase version for China. The local production of compact vehicles began at BBAC in 2015 with the GLA. In the future, the plant will produce electric vehicles of the product and technology brand EQ as well as batteries for the local market. The facility in Beijing is thus part of the global battery production network of Mercedes-Benz Cars, which has locations on three continents.
