Product Manager Customer Data Management Interview with Anna Kühner

What will digital communication with customers be like in the future? Anna Kühner deals with this question. She is part of the new Digital Unit und talks about the significance of digital transformation at her workplace.

Hello Ms. Kühner, please introduce yourself briefly to the readers.

After completing my Master's degree in Business Management in Würzburg I joined Daimler in Customer Data Management (CDM). As a CDM Product Manager at the new premises in Stuttgart city center, I am currently focusing on the ongoing development of the system functionalities, the customer experiences in his Mercedes me later on.

Why did you choose Daimler as your employer?

I am excited to be playing a part in a ground-breaking field at a global corporation. The wide range of opportunities for development available at both the national and international levels made it very easy for me to choose Daimler as an employer.

Please describe your career at Daimler – from the first day in the company until today.

Everything happened so fast at the beginning. My first business trip to the US came just six weeks after I started. We were working on the subject of Customer Data Management together with our American colleagues. My working life involves working independently in a dedicated team in close collaboration with our colleagues in IT.

Please tell us a bit more about your team and your work.

The CDM project has been organized to be agile.

Short development cycles and our proximity to the product allow us to see results quickly. This is only possible thanks to good teamwork. And everything is simply right in our team!

My team consists of our team manager, three colleagues and myself.

I am excited about our goal of combining customer characteristics in a way that makes sense. In this way, we are laying the foundation for the digital revolution and facilitating tailored and targeted communication with the customer.

My job within the Digital Unit is to translate these use cases into specialist system requirements.

You are going to be part of the new unit “Digital and IT for Marketing & Sales Mercedes-Benz Cars”. How does it affect you and your work?

The digital challenges our team deals with require a cultural shift away from fixed structures and toward small, agile teams that recombine differently each day depending on the topic and contact persons. We work with short decision-making paths and very flat hierarchies. We are also moving into a new location in the heart of Stuttgart. This kind of work is enjoyable!
