The Mercedes-Benz plant in Kecskemét is an important part of the global production network for compact cars. Part of the production compound are also the lead plant in Rastatt, Germany, the BBAC facility in Beijing, China, the production partner Valmet Automotive in Uusikaupunki, Finland, and the COMPAS joint venture in Aguascalientes, Mexico. The Mercedes-Benz B-Class was the first model to roll off the assembly line in Kecskemét in 2012. It was followed in 2013 by the four-door compact CLA coupe, and in 2015 by the CLA Shooting Brake. Both of these models are produced exclusively in Kecskemét for customers around the world. The new A-Class has rounded out the product range of this production location and Hungary since May 2018. The first “full-flex plant” is now being built in Kecskemét. A “full-flex plant” makes it possible to flexibly produce a wide range of vehicle architectures — ranging from compact models to sedans with rear-wheel drive and different types of powertrains, including electric vehicles — on a single production line. Production will start at this plant at the beginning of the next decade.
