The Mercedes- Benz plant in Berlin is an important part of the powertrain production network and one of the largest industrial employers in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. The plant is a high-tech center for component manufacturing, incorporating technologies for minimizing CO2 emissions. Among other things, these technologies include the innovative valve timing system CAMTRONIC, which went into production in 2012. The location serves as the competence center within the global powertrain production network for this variable valve adjustment system. The Berlin plant was established in 1902, making it Daimler’s oldest production facility in operation.
