Mercedes-Benz U.S. International, Inc. is the traditional production location for the GLE-, GLS- and GLE Coupe sport utility vehicles, as well as the C-Class sedan for North America. Around two thirds of our SUVs produced in Alabama are being exported to almost every country in the world, making MBUSI the second largest automotive exporter in the United States. In 2018, the plant broke ground on its new battery plant and continued construction at a nearby site as part of a $1 billion investment to start production of electric passenger cars by the beginning of the next decade, and to expand the plant’s logistics activities. Mercedes-Benz Cars has invested more than $6 billion in the Alabama plant. MBUSI currently employs more than 3,800 Team Members and is responsible for more than 10,000 direct and indirect jobs in the region.
