BharatBenz is the youngest member of the Daimler commercial vehicle family. The brand was developed specifically for the Indian market. In addition to a series of ultra-modern trucks, BharatBenz has also been offering school, staff and tourist buses since 2015.
Under the BharatBenz brand, front-engined buses cover the needs of the Indian volume market. All vehicles are produced locally, with components and parts sourced from Indian suppliers.
The BharatBenz models are tailored specifically to the subcontinent's market and ideally suited to the climatic and economic conditions in India.
Better efficiency, enhanced performance
The defining features of BharatBenz buses are:
- Efficiency: fuel-efficient engines ensure greater economy.
- Performance: higher torque provides for optimised power output.
- Reliability: BharatBenz delivers a high level of quality with extensive testing and an ultra-modern proving ground.
Young, successful, established
Within no time at all, BharatBenz has become a firm fixture in India's commercial vehicle industry. Only in the market since September 2012, the brand now offers a comprehensive truck product portfolio from 9 to 49 tonnes. In May 2015, the plant in Chennai was extended to include bus production and has since been home to production of the light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, as well as buses from the Mercedes-Benz and BharatBenz brands, research and development, a vehicle testing site and a test track.
The inauguration of the new bus plant makes the plant in Chennai the very first Daimler Trucks plant worldwide where trucks, buses and engines for three brands in total come off the production line: BharatBenz, FUSO and Mercedes-Benz.
