The new EQA

The Concept EQ is the forerunner of a new generation of battery-electric vehicles at Daimler. Mass-production vehicles based on the EQ design will be rolling off the assembly line at the Mercedes-Benz plants in the next few years. After the smart EQ models Daimler launches the Mercedes-Benz EQC (combined electrical consumption: 20.8 - 19.7 kWh/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g/km)**, the first fully-electric SUV, in the mid of 2019. With a range of up to 450 kilometers to NEDC (provisional figure)** and the typical Mercedes strengths in terms of safety, comfort, functionality and connectivity, the vehicle fulfills all requirements placed on modern, sustainable mobility.

Whether a sporty SUV or a family-friendly van - the range of all-electric models from Mercedes-Benz offers the right model for everyone. The portfolio will be expanded in 2021 with three new models.

The EQC (electricity consumption combined: 20.8 – 19.7 kWh/100 km; CO₂ emissions combined: 0 g/km)** is the first Mercedes-Benz vehicle to be launched under the EQ brand in 2019. A sophisticated operating strategy enables an electric range of 445 - 471 km according to NEDC.**

As the world’s biggest commercial vehicle manufacturer, Daimler is making use of new, sustainable drive systems for its trucks, buses, and vans as well as its cars. The eVito is the second all-electric production model that Mercedes-Benz Vans launched on the market — after the Vito E-Cell in 2010. Mercedes-Benz Vans plans to electrify all of its commercial model series. The eVito will be followed by the eSprinter in the second half of 2019.

With a range of around 150 kilometers, a top speed of up to 120 km/h, a payload of more than 1,000 kilograms, and a cargo capacity of up to 6.6 m³, the eVito is tailored to the needs of commercial customers who operate in inner cities.

The eSprinter follows the eVito in 2019. With an installed battery capacity of 55 kWh, the anticipated range stands at around 150 kilometers with a maximum payload of 900 kilograms.

The new eVito Tourer offers space for up to eight seats plus the driver and with a battery capacity of 90 kWh a range of around 400 km.

In July 2018, Daimler Buses introduced the eCitaro. Thanks to its range of 250 kilometers, this bus can cover the majority of the regular services without any problems. With the FUSO eCanter, the Group also leads the way in the field of "green" trucks: Since 2017, the electric light truck has been rolling off the assembly line in small volumes.

Electrically-operated trucks at Daimler

In 2014, the world's first fully electric light truck was launched in the fleet test under the name of FUSO Canter E-Cell and has been produced as the FUSO eCanter in a small-volume series since July 2017. In the vehicle, a new permanent synchronous electric motor with an impressive output of 185 kW is used. Depending on the body, load and operating profile, the range is more than 100 kilometers.

Since September 2018, Mercedes-Benz Trucks handed over the first units of the heavy-duty electric truck to customers to test the respective vehicle for its suitability for their daily field of work.

According to SORT2, the Citaro with a full complement of batteries should be able to achieve an operating range of around 150 kilometers in the summer. In other words, it is already possible to serve some sub-networks within the daily workload of a city bus without opportunity charging. Under ideal conditions, the eCitaro even drives around 250 kilometres without opportunity charging. Series production started in 2018.

In December 2018 the subsidiary company Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA) handed over the first middle-weight Freightliner eM2 to the US customer Penske Truck Leasing Corporation and with that started the practical test for heavy and moderate-heavy e-Lkw. The eCascadia for the heavy distribution transport is being tested.

In the coming years, Daimler will be investing more than ten billion euros in the expansion of its electric fleet at Mercedes-Benz Cars as well as one billion euros in its battery production. More than ten new electric vehicles will enter series production.
