smart has been making life in the city as simple as possible for 20 years. With the campaign "Im E-insatz für meine Stadt" (on a mission for my city), this objective is definitely being achieved: Daimler AG donated 45 smart EQ fortwo and forfour vehicles (combined power consumption: 20.8 - 12.9 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km) to charitable organizations in Stuttgart. smart boss Katrin Adt handed the vehicles over on the premises of the Stuttgart City Archives.
The vehicle donation is the result of intensive collaboration with the Bürgerstiftung Stuttgart citizens' association: "We know the non-profit scene very well and know what major role mobility plays for the work of the volunteers. That is why this was a cooperation between the civil society and the company that is a perfect fit and makes an impact," says Irene Armbruster, managing director of the citizens' association.
Charitable organizations whose work focus lies within the city limits had the opportunity to submit an application for the vehicles in the summer. 84 applications were received so that an interdisciplinary jury had to determine which organization would benefit the most from the support.
With the donation of 45 smart EQ fortwo and forfour vehicles (combined power consumption: 20.8 - 12.9 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km), our company is making a contribution to a livable Stuttgart in two ways at once: The initiatives are bolstered, the air pollution is reduced thanks to the locally emission-free vehicles – very important especially in fine-particle-stricken Stuttgart.
Even though all Stuttgart residents benefit from the campaign - the supported organizations themselves are the ones who are particularly happy, of course: The vehicle handover this morning was accompanied by many joyful reactions on the part of the non-profit representatives:
To Manuel Albani from the "contain’t" urbanity project, the electric smart above all means lots of flexibility: "Moving about the city in an eco-friendly manner has always been important to us, with the smart EQ forfour (combined power consumption: 20.8 - 13.4 kWh/100 km; combined CO₂ emissions: 0 g/km)¹, we are now on the road with zero emissions. Because our events take place at different locations, the new car not only makes our event logistics a whole lot easier, but actually will make some campaigns possible in the first place.“
The offer of the humanistic hospice service of AWO also benefits from the additional mobility. For example, volunteer companions of the dying, who previously had to rely on public transit, are now also able to drive to remote neighborhoods at night.
„Im E-insatz für meine Stadt“ (on a mission for my city) is part of the initiative „Daimler WeCare“.
