The Mercedes-Benz Düsseldorf Plant is the largest van plant of Daimler.
It was founded in 1962 and as the lead plant for the global Sprinter production plays a principal role in the global production network of Mercedes-Benz Vans. On a production area of about 175,000 square meters (body shop, paint shop and assembly), more than 6,500 employees produce the closed model variants of the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter – the originator of the segment of large vans. The plant is one of the largest industrial employers and companies offering vocational training in the region. Currently, 157 young people are receiving vocational training in the plant. With investments totaling 300 million euros, Mercedes-Benz Vans continues to rely on the modernization of the site.
