Daimler is supporting the German Red Cross in its acquisition of a specialised baby ambulance for the Böblingen district.
The current Red Cross baby ambulance has been in service for almost 15 years and attends around 400 call-outs a year, providing often life-saving care to the very youngest inhabitants of Böblingen and the surrounding area.
After such a long period of service a new vehicle is now urgently required, equipped in accordance with the latest medical and vehicle safety technology. When newborn babies need medical assistance and have to be transported, special care is essential. Infants' blood vessels have extremely thin walls, and even the slightest vibration could be life-threatening. With its donation, Daimler is contributing to the acquisition of a new emergency vehicle which will optimise emergency care for infants in Böblingen.
The donation will be used to finance the vehicle's radio and communication technology, and an infant suction pump. Daimler has been supporting the work of the German Red Cross and other lifesaving, medical and disaster response services for many years.
