Kick on Ice is an ice sports event organized by Laureus in Berlin for children and young people unable to join a club because they do not have the necessary money. The project aims to stop children from Berlin's social hotspots drifting into crime. The guiding principle of the Laureus Foundation: "Everyone can take their life in their hands and shape it positively." That is lived with Kick on Ice as with many other Laureus projects.
According to Jan Kaminski, project leader Kick on Ice Berlin, the sense is to give something to the young people, some orientation. And a lot comes in return: Joy, motivation and the will to change something. The children and young people who take part in the Kick on Ice project have experienced yet a lot in their short lives. The project Kick on Ice gives them a chance to work on their goals in a team together with others. To become winners like the “Lucky Bears” who won the finals of Kick on Ice 2016 in Berlin.
