To sum up the atmosphere at Christopher Street Day (CSD) in a few words, it is a good humored, upbeat, colorful and many-faceted occasion. This year, Daimler, Mercedes-Benz Bank, car2go, moovel and the GL@D staff network (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender @Daimler) are sending a truck to CSD in six German cities. The first stop on the CSD Truck Tour was the city of Cologne.
Daimler has been part of Christopher Street Day in Berlin and Stuttgart for some years now. This year, the CSD truck will also be on the scene in Munich, Hamburg, Bremen and Cologne.
"Diversity is the driving force behind our ideas, inventiveness and success. Excellence is not bound by gender, age or ethnicity. In taking part in the Christopher Street Day parades, we show that Daimler stands for tolerance, openness and respect," says Wilfried Porth, member of the Daimler Board of Management responsible for Human Resources and Labor Relations Director for Mercedes-Benz Vans.
Björn Bergfelder was one of the high-spirited dancing Daimler employees on the CSD truck in Cologne. He works in the area of Business Innovation at Daimler. Björn was thrilled by the atmosphere at CSD in Cologne: "This was the first time I had been involved. I took part in the draw and won a place on the truck. It was a brilliant and really good humored parade. I had a great day!" The event in Cologne alone drew 950,000 spectators and participants. The demo in the city center was attended by 30,000 people.
Well over 500 employees in all have the chance to board the Mercedes-Benz trucks on one of the tour dates under the banner "We live diversity"! Daimler organized an in-house prize draw in this connection. The response was outstanding and the places on the truck were swiftly allocated.
